1、sat 语法题 请高手指点

at the conclusion of the novel of The Great Gatsby, Nick Carraway, a young Midwesterner recently arrived to New York, moodily watches the blinking green light at the tip of Long Island.

问题是答案说arrived to 错了，现在网上一种说法是arrive 后面的介词to 错了，还有一种说法是因为The Great Gatsby是一本书，所以arrived to 的时态错了，请教真确解释。

还有一个问题是从一句话来看， 逗号后面的moodily watches the blinking green ....这个在整句话里是什么成分，我实在搞不清楚，因为前面已经有arrive这个动词了

我选B，答案D.但是sat中，一句话中不是不能有2个连词吗？（难道记错了？），D里，又是and,又是but，怎么会对？

另外，sat里面不是规定，副词前只用；或。连接吗？可是为什么thereby,thus还有好多其它副词都有......，副词＋doing...的用法？e.g. I am happy, thus doing sth.。请具体把所有起连词作用的副词的各种用法列一下。如thereby, thus ,therefore。。。。。。尤其是能跟，加doing的！！！这个问题麻烦讲详细一点。

我知道a significant factor应改成Sigificant factors，但是buying为什么对？

有个经典例子：Mr Hanson proudly demonstrated his company\'s latest cellphone, a model that flashes the time in color-coded numerals （when pressing a button）

. 就是pressing a buttoon 不是主语model发出的动作，所以不对。

那我这道题里，factors是主语，factors也不是buying的动作发出者啊。为什么这里buying对的？

"...，in particular doing"可不可以？
