  10. An unusual job

Describe an unusual job you would (like to) do, if you had the opportunity.

  You should say:

  What job it would be

What you would do in that job

  Why this job is unusual

And explain why you would like to do that job.

Let me see, I love traveling also I am crazy about the culture of Egypt. I guess I would like to be a tour guide in Egypt.

First of all, you should know a great deal of the history. You must be in control and completely organized at all times. You are organizing a group of people, chatting with them, informing them about various places, partying with them, and sometimes even counseling them. So you must be a leader. During tours you will be the one who will make the tour lively. A tour will be more amusing and lively if you show and tell interesting facts about any particular places. In Egypt there are pyramids, the Nile River, the camels, the Sphinx. On the way there, you should tell them the scenery. Then when you get to the destination, the pyramid for example, tell them about its historical background, its style of architecture, events that took place there and stories carved on its walls. And also tell them the time you leave the place and where you will meet. On the way to the hotel you can play local traditional or modern music. I reckon it's unusual because it sounds like you can travel under the guise of work. Besides, you have varieties of job settings museums, historical homes, and so on. I guess there's no trouble finding a setting that is interesting to you. And I suppose no two days will ever be the same- Even if you are traveling with the same group for several weeks. New challenges will arise, you?ll get to meet new people, and questions will be asked that require you to think on your feet.

That's really fascinating just imagine it. Being a tour guide can be an incredibly fun and rewarding career choice, with new experiences and opportunities every day. The variety of job settings and duties alone can make the field an interesting one for someone who enjoys traveling and likes working with people.

  19. A book you would like to read again

Describe a type of book you like to read.

  You should say:

What?s the name of the book?

What type of book it is

  What content it has

And explain why you like to read this type of book.

Well, actually my biggest hobby is reading books. That?s why I have a lot of books, such as science fiction, autobiography and romance. In particularly I would say fairy tales are my favorite.

Have you ever heard about the little mermaid? It's in Andersen story. It?s really famous. I guess almost all the children all over the world would have read this book nowadays. I got this book from my uncle as a gift when I was little girl, I loved it.it fulfills a little girl's fantasy about love and his Mr. Right. THE LITTLE MERMAID tells the story of a mermaid princess who collects human artifacts she finds in the sea. One day, she rescues a Prince. I can't remember their names exactly. And the little mermaid falls in love. Desperate for the chance to have a life with him, she enters into an agreement with a sea witch. She gives up her voice and gets legs, in hopes of winning him and being part of his world. But she only has three days to win his prince. If he doesn't kiss her in that time, she will become the witches' slave forever. This book baffles me every time i read it. Seriously, whether it's for kids or for adults, cause if it's for kids, the sad ending is totally out of their expectation.

The Little Mermaid is, quite simply, a feminist?s worst nightmare. This book is about, a young woman who gives up her voice to get a pair of legs so that she can snare a man. It?s about the triumph of ?good? women ? young, slender, silent and lovesick ? over ?bad? women ? old, voluptuous, outspoken and sexual. It?s about a young woman forced to choose between her father?s world and her husband?s world, and there is nothing in between.

Describe a small business that you would like to own.

 You should say:

 what this business would be

how you would start/open this business

how you would run this business

and explain why you would like to run this kind of business.

  答案

  What this business would be?

I want to open a small business. It will be a place for kids to go after school, a kind of childcare centre in the neighborhood. My town desperatelyneeds a place like this.

How you would start/open this business?

Honestly, I have no idea how to go about it. But common sense tells me that the key to starting a successful business is to develop a business plan and then get financial support. But unlike other businesses, this caregiving business does not have to be a profitableorganization.

However, helping kids is the crucial thing that we should do. So I would contact some local non-profit organizations and talk with them to see if they can help me in any way.

How you would run this business?

There will be food, video games, pinball, and a dance floor. I will also hire co-ordinators there to help kids with homework and other kinds of stuff. The business would operate on a menbership scheme, I mean those who want to join have to register and pay annual fee first. There will be individual membership fee and family membership fee which is quite a bargain. Then the members will be entitled to enjoy the refreshments in the memeber's lounge.

and explain why you would like to run this kind of business.

I would like to start this business because first of all, there?s great demand around my neighborhood. The typicalprimary schools or secondary schools in China normally end at 4p.m. But the working hours for most parents is from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. The centre will be a good place for the child to stay until their parents come to pick them up after work. Also I could set up a nursery or a kindergartencatering for kids who are in tender ages. One of my friends works as a kindergarten teacher. She said that it was so much fun to work with children. They are cute, and very trusting....it is trulely a very promising and worthwhile career--very rewarding as well....

  1. What kinds of small business are most popular in China?

One of the most popular small businesses here in China is to set up an online business. You can sell anything from clothes to [wv]antiques[/wv to second-hand furniture. The investment cost is much lower than normal companies and you could work anytime and anywhere as long as you have the Internet access. The process could also be fully automated as the technology is ever-improving.

  2. Why do some people open their own business?

The benefits are pretty obvious, such as 'being you own boss' and not having to follow the daily routines. Your time is you own, though you will probably find having your own business takes far more of your time than what you expected.

  3. What challenges and difficulties do people face when they try to have a successful small business?

Although little initial startupcost is required, the biggest challenge is getting the public to believe in you and the quality of your service. Another challenge is getting full use of your time in which way you can exert your potential into full play.

  4. What do you think is the most important factor when choosing a job or career?

It depends on individual circumstances. Although salary plays an important role in choosing a career, for newly graduates the opportunity to learn weighs more than salary.

  5. Do you think it is good to change your job frequently?

I suppose changing job frequently has both benefits and drawbacks. As an employer, some maintain that a person who changes jobs frequentlyis unstable and not good for the team. I think a person who stays at the same job forever is fearful or unmotivated. I like to see people who change to find a better fit or for career advancement.

News media is more influential nowadays. Some people think it is a negative development. To what extent do you agree or disagree? (090822)

母题 :Nowadays, films and computer games containing violence are popular. Some people think those films and games have negative effects on society and should be banned, while others think they are just harmless relaxation. Discuss both views and give your opinion. (111029)
