A pioneering study by Donald Appleyard made the surprise

sudden increase in the volume of traffic through an area affects p

Conditions on Octavia Street were much different. Residents picked up trash. They sat on their front steps and chatted with neighbors. They had three times as many friends and twice as many acquaintances as the people on Franklin.

On Gough Street, residents said that the old feeling of community was disappearing as traffic increased. People were becoming more and more preoccupied with their own lives. Imagine, if you will, the average games player. What do you see? A guy who never grew up? Or a nervous 18-year-old pushing buttons on his controller, lost and alone in a violent onscreen world? Sorry, you lose. The average gamer is starting to look pretty much like the average person. For the first time, according to a U.S. poll commissioned by AOL Games, roughly half of those surveyed, ages 12 to 55, are tapping away at some kind of electronic game - whether on a PC, a cell phone or another handheld device - for an average of three hours every week.

The ostrich, the largest bird in the world at present, lives in the drier regions of Africa outside the actual deserts. Because of its very long, powerful legs and the floating effect of its extended wings, it is able to run at great speed over considerable distances.

The female ostrich normally produces about twenty eggs every rainy season. When the female ostrich begins to lay her eggs, however, she does not begin in her own nest. Instead she goes off in search of the nests of neighboring females and lays two or three eggs in each of them. By the time she has laid eight or nine eggs, she returns and lays the rest in her own nest.

Because of the size of the eggs, the female ostrich cannot lay more than one every two days, so it takes her three weeks to finish laying in her own nest. During that period, she spends a lot of time away from her nest looking for food. And while she is off her nest, other females visit it to lay their eggs amongst hers. By the time she is ready to sit on the eggs to hatch them, there could be up to thirty eggs in her nest, over half of which are not her own.

The female ostrich can comfortably cover only about twenty eggs when she is sitting on the nest so before settling down she pushes the surplus ten or so eggs out of the nest. The rejected eggs, however, never include any of her own. Each female is remarkably consistent in the size and shape of the eggs she produces, so it is not difficult for her to distinguish her own from those of strangers.

SAT[3] 考试总时长3小时50分钟(230分钟),共有阅读(Reading)、文法(Writing and Language)和数学(Math)三个必考科目和一个作文(Essay)选考科目。

三个科目的分配如下:

阅读(Reading):共65分钟;

文法(Writing and Language):共35分钟;

数学(Math):由两个Section构成,共80分钟

作文(Essay):共50分钟;

注意:整场考试共休息3次,分别为阅读和文法之间、第一个数学和第二个数学之间,第二个数学和作文之间;每次休息5分钟。

批判性阅读

批判性阅读(下称CR)部分共67道题目,包括:19道完成句子(Sentence Completion,下称SC)和48道文章阅读(Passage-Based Reading)。

文章阅读中,共包含3篇独立长文章、1组长对比文章、2篇独立短文章和1组对比短文章,共5篇独立文章和两组对比文章。

搭配形式

25分钟区:5道SC+短文章(两篇独立/一组对比)+两篇长文章(一组对比文章算为一篇)

25分钟区:8道SC+短文章(两篇独立/一组对比)+一篇长文章(一组对比文章算为一篇)

20分钟区:6道SC+一篇长文章( 一组对比文章算为一篇)

完成句子

在一个句子中,去掉一个或两个词/词组并给出5个选项,根据给出的句子部分,选择最合适的填入,主要考察词汇量。

文章阅读

给出一篇或一组文章,阅读后回答问题。文章所涉及的领域主要有社会科学、人文、自然科学或小说(每次必有一篇)。

短文章每篇(对比阅读算两篇)大约100词左右,每篇文章会出2道题目(对比文章4道)。长文章或文章组每篇(组)总词数介于400到800之间。

数学

数学部分共44道选择题和10道填空题。

25分钟区:8道选择+10道填空

20分钟区:16道选择

每个数学区前的说明与公式(2张)

考察内容

包括美国教育系统内代数一、代数二和几何课程的内容(相当于中国初中绝大多数和高中一小部分的知识点),不包括绝大多数预备微积分(相当于中国高中数学)及更深课程的内容。

对于接受过中国式传统数学教育的学生来说比较简单,但对于基础阅读能力欠缺的考生可能有所挑战。

另外,SAT数学对于细心的要求很高,且换算分数时在高分区间数学是同等正确率扣分远远超过其他部分,所以满分也不是易事。

其他

允许使用计算器,每个区最开头会给出一些公式。

知识要点

抛物线:y = ax? + bx + c

椭圆:(1)周长公式:L=2πb+4(a-b)

椭圆周长定理:椭圆的周长等于该椭圆短半轴长为半径的圆周长(2πb)加上四倍的该椭圆长半轴长(a)与短半轴长(b)的差。

面积公式 :S=πab

椭圆面积定理:椭圆的面积等于圆周率(π)乘该椭圆长半轴长(a)与短半轴长(b)的乘积。

菱形面积=对角线乘积的一半,即S=(a×b)÷2

三角形面积:

(1)已知三角形底a,高h,则S=ah/2

(2)已知三角形三边a,b,c,半周长p,则S= √[p(p - a)(p - b)(p - c)] (海伦公式)

(3)已知三角形两边a,b,这两边夹角C,则S=absinC/2

(4)已知三角形半周长p,内接圆半径r,则S=pr

扇形面积:圆心角为n°,半径为r的扇形面积为(n/360)×π(r^2)如果其顶角采用弧度单位,则可简化为1/2×弧度 ×半径平方。扇形还与三角形有相似之处,上述简化的面积公式亦可看成:1/2×弧长×半径,与三角形面积“1/2×底×高”相似。

梯形面积:[(上底+下底)×高] / 2

矩形面积:长×宽

梯形体积:V=〔S1+S2+√(S1*S2)〕/3*H )(V:体积;S1:上表面积;S2:下表面积;H:高)

圆柱体体积:V圆柱=S底×h

长方体体积:V=长×宽×高

正方体体积:V=棱长^3

圆锥体体积:V=1/3×S底×h

勾股定理:a?+b?=c? (a,b,c分别代表直角三角形的勾、股、弦三边之长),其变形 为:b?=c?-a?=(c-a)(c+a)a?=c?-b?=(c-b)(c+b);c?=2ab+(b-a)?

等差数列:1.通项公式:an=a1+(n-1)d

2.前n项和公式:Sn=na1+[n(n-1)d]/2或 Sn=[n(a1+an)]/2

等比数列:1.通项公式:an=a1·q^(n-1)

2.前n项和公式:当 q= 1时,Sn=na1;当 q≠1 时, Sn=[a1(1-q^n )] /(1-q)

一元一次方程一般形式:ax+b=0(a、b为常数,a≠0)

一元二次方程:1.一般形式:ax^2+bx+c=0(a、b、c为常数,a≠0)

写作

这个科目是在2005年SAT改革之后才加进来的,共3个区,包含一篇作文和49道语法选择题。其中,作文大约占总分的30%,语法选择题大约占总分的70%。

语法选择题中包含25道改进句子(Improving Sentences,下称IS)、18道句子挑错(Identifying Sentence Error,下称ISE)和6道改进篇章(Improving Passage,下称IP)。

搭配形式

Section 1(25分钟):作文[;注:每次考试,第一个区肯定是25分钟作文];

25分钟区:11道IS+18道ISE+6道IP

Section 10(10分钟):14道IS[;注:每次考试,第十个区也就是最后一个区肯定是语法]。

作文

在25分钟内,按照给出的题目作文。若想拿到高分,词数一般要在400以上。作文会由两个评审批阅,除空白和跑题外,每个评审的赋分范围是1-6分,作文总分为2-12分。

语法选择题

全部是挑错改错,中国学生经过培训或自学后提高应当很快。

第二题(the chairman of the school board announced a plan to build two new elementary schools during an interview with a local news reporter.)(修改打括号的句子)答案是E。“during an interview with a local news reporter, the chairman of the school board announced a plan to build two new elementary schools”.放在句首是修饰谓语announced 的。如果E这个选项中的”during...reporter"没有打逗号,也是修饰谓语announced 的。如果“during..reporter"放在句子最后,就像原句一样,但用逗号隔开,则属于错误表达。

不知c选项 是如何表达的。无法回答。

然后是第六题(the beaver is the largest rodent in north america, it) has a large, flat, nearly hairless tail, webbed hid feet; and short front legs swith hairy claws.答案是D,"the largest rodent in north america, the beaver".

the beaver是同位语

如果加个being冠词需要改为类指的a 即being a largest rodent in north america,则是现在分词短语作状语

所以在E选项前面加个being不对

8月SAT考点只有北美吗

美国地区考试放出考位的共计5场,2018(8月25日,10月6日,11月3日,12月1日),2019(3月9日,无SAT2)。
